We crossed over to an island during low tide and came across these huge abandoned lobster pens. We spoke with a lobsterman who was telling us they no longer use the outdoor pens and now keep the lobsters indoors in a temperature controlled pen.
Our lobsterman friend told us that baby scallops grew outside of the shell and so they began throwing them back into the water once they were shelled. There are mounds and mounds of scallop shells.
